I Speak (in sentences)

It’s so much easier to work with her now that she can tell us exactly what she wants to eat, or do, or NOT do. We were surprised at how effective single word communication was until recently when she started using multiple word sentences! Daddy eat, or daddy sit (this is her telling ME to eat, or sit), or “nigh-nigh baby” when she puts her baby dolls down for a nap. Ruby continues to use her potty for going number one. She even says “buy-bye pee pee” when we flush it down the toilet!
Pee Pee on the Potty
Posted on January 24, 2008, in Baby Journal by Dad | No CommentsA few weeks ago we got Ruby a little plastic potty and placed it in the upstairs bathroom. We talked to her about it whenever we happened to be in there with her, and tried to make it clear how she was supposed to use it. She started sitting on it with her clothes on during the first few weeks, just hanging out. Tonight, while we were playing in her room waiting for Mom to come home she kinda disappeared and I found her in the bathroom looking at her potty. I asked her if she had to go and she indicated that she did so I took her diaper off and told her to have a seat. She was there for about 20 seconds just hanging out when she reached down inside with her hand. I found that kind of odd so I asked her if I could take a look. Believe it or not, there was actually pee in there! We celebrated by clapping and high-fiving. She was pretty proud of herself. Mom came home a few minutes later joined in on the celebration!
