Caterpillars!

Mom had to work late tonight so Ruby and I made these fearsome looking creatures!!! Ruby just LOVES to do “projects.” Ruby often comes home from daycare with two to three times as many “projects” as the other children. At home, we have a little art station setup for her where we can fire up some impromptu stream of conscious art projects. Ruby works in glue, sparkles, magic marker, crayon, pencil, chalk, stickers, and pipe cleaner.

Helping dad put on the bike seat

Dad has been using his bike to get around the city a lot lately in an effort to use the car less and less. Ruby has been wanting to join him on some of these rides so Dad found a bike seat on Craigslist. Now, they can ride back and forth to daycare together! In this photo, Ruby is caught putting some screws down her shirt.

In the city, there is more of everything. And that holds true for playgrounds. Ruby has been trying them all out lately and has started showing a preference for climbing structures.

Mimi came to visit the new place on Monday and Ruby wanted to show her the ducks on Jamaica Pond!

We love our new neighborhood, and we especially love our proximity to Jamaica Pond. We have walked around the pond every weekend since the move. Ruby loves visiting the ducks the best. We are also looking forward to renting a row or sail boat from the boat house once we get Ruby’s life jacket back from Keuka Lake.

Mrs. Noodle

Ruby had some noodles at the Elephant Walk on Saturday. When they showed up covered in what Nancy and I would call “Stinky Cheese” we both looked at each other and thought “there is no way she is going to eat that.” But Ruby rather liked it and it wasn’t long before she was stuffing fistfuls of it into her mouth.

Nancy and I (and Ruby to some extent) have been very busy unpacking and settling in to their new home. We thought we all deserved a treat on Saturday and went out to eat at the Elephant Walk, a Cambodian/French restaurant near our home that actually has a gluten free menu for Dad. Ruby was very adventurous and tried a little of everything!

The only way to watch Barney

Ok, I’ll admit it. Our daughter loves the big purple dinosaur. And he’s not all THAT bad. In fact he does teach her some great lessons about sharing and using your imagination. There is also lots of singing and dancing as well which Ruby loves to participate in. As wonderful as it is for a toddler, it can be rather ANNOYING to any adult within earshot. Ruby took an interest in my wireless headphones the other day, so I thought “what better use for these things could there be?”

Doing some laundry

Ruby loves our new front loading washer and dryer. She enjoys picking out “Ruby’s shirt!” and “Ruby’s jamas!” over and over again as they roll round and round… We found that it actually tires her out quite a bit and started doing loads right before bedtime!
