Today, Ruby is 2 years old! We took her to see a free concert at City Hall Plaza. Would you believe it was her idea to wear that tu-tu today?!

Ruby says ‘Four legs good. Two legs bad!

No time like the present to introduce Ruby to the warning signs of a totalitarian government. Easy to draw parallels to what is happening in our country today…

What can we say, Ruby loves her grandparent’s dogs! We’re not so sure how THEY feel about constantly being poked, tugged and hugged but Ruby can’t get enough of them.

Is enjoying an early morning bike ride along skyline drive

Ruby didn’t find cruising along the lower lake roads all that exciting. I think she was expecting trolley trains, buses, fire trucks and ambulances like she is used to at home. The lower lake road is perfect if you are into lots of trees and a view of the lake on one side or the other. We decided to take her on a ride along skyline drive which offers amazing views of, well, the skyline. There are also lots of BARNS, and hay bales and other farm scenery.

Ruby’s first haircut!

Mom decided it was time to trim her daughter’s locks. We were a little worried that doing so would ruin her cute little curls. We were also worried that mom’s inexperience in hair cutting could result in self-image scars that run deep and long. We are biased, but we think she looks cuter than ever. A number of clipped curls have been saved. Dad is going to see what he can get for them on eBay. There has to be market for the cutest little curls ever, right?

Playing in the waterfall

The glen doesn’t end here. You can hike up the waterfall 50 or 60 feet up. Its not an appropriate feat for a toddler or a dad with a toddler on his back. That didn’t stop Ruby from wanting to go “higher!”

With all the rain the finger lakes have been getting this summer Mom and Dad had surmised that the glen would be a little turgid, but they didn’t expect to be wading in water up to their waists. When Ruby saw this, she was a little concerned to say the least.

Ruby got a chance to take the aluminum dinghy across the lake to hike up the stream/glen that culminates at an impressive waterfall. In contrast to last year, Ruby was actually excited to don her life vest.

Dad’s recent purchase of a bike seat has been a huge success. Ruby just loves riding around the city. Her and Dad frequently take the bike to daycare, to local playgrounds and for tours of Leverett Pond, Jamaica Pond and the Arboretum. Mom often joins them. Since selling the Explorer, they have been forced to slim down on what they take with them to the lake. While the Prius can old a tremendous amount of loot, they didn’t think they would be able to take the bikes along. Thanks to Eric Gasper and Heather Campbell for letting us borrow their bike rack. It fit our car perfectly and Ruby has been enjoying peaceful rides through the countryside.

Were here!

We had to wait a while for the dogs arrival, but once everyone was present and accounted for there was lots of screaming, giggling, and chasing to be had. Ruby was pleasantly surprised to find that Mimi and Bapa brought her swing from Worcester up to the lake. The tree branch here is MUCH higher so Ruby gets a really large arch and a tremendous view of the lake. The dogs are containing their excitement upon Ruby’s arrival.
